(pictured from 1978 rockin' on WNOE/New Orleans) Weerd Wayne is a true Classic in Gulf Coast radio, celebrating 33 years of rockin' the Gulf Coast home every afternoon!
Wayne began his adventure into radio while attending LSU in Baton Rouge studying Broadcast Journalism back in 1975. He then ventured down the highway spending 3 years at WNOE/New Orleans, but when they flipped to country, Wayne went shooting up Highway 61 to Baton Rouge for a 3 year stay at WFMF. WRNO stole him away for a 7 year stint back in New Orleans, rounding out the 80's, then he jumped 'cross street to WCKW, until 1995 when the Mississippi Gulf Coast called needing a new rock radio station...Wayne, Kenny Vest and Scot Fox built 97.9 WCPR from the ground up. Wayne segued to 105.9 in 1997, when a new radio group was formed, and the rest is still to be written... |
